The FAR-West Networking Center

The FAR-West Networking Center is more than just an “Exhibit Hall.” It’s the hub of business connections among performers, presenters and others at the conference. It’s the point where you have the greatest potential to meet the greatest number of conference attendees. There are tables available in the Networking Center for the 2021 Conference. As another part of our effort to make the conference affordable, we have held prices to last year’s rates. The deadline for reserving a Networking Center table is September 12.

NETWORKING CENTER RATES (for the duration of the conference)

$55. per 6′ table with 2 chairs / no electricity
$65. per 6′ table with 2 chairs / with electricity
Booth Buddies at $40. for the weekend.

In addition to reserving your table on the Registration website, you must submit a contract to finalize your table.

If you need a Booth Assistant to help staff your table, you can purchase  up to two hall passes for $40 each on the Registration site. These cover both Networking Center days, Friday and Saturday, and are good for entry to the Networking Center and evening Official Showcases only. Passes do NOT include access to the workshops, PGS floor, BOTW luncheon, or Sunday brunch.

Sales: If you wish to sell merchandise (e.g. CD’s) in the Networking Center, the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration requires vendors to get a Temporary Seller’s Permit. These permits are free and information is at the website <https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/industry/temporary-sellers.htm>. Read the instructions there and go to the Registration site <https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/services/#Register-Renewals>. If you have questions, call their Customer Service Center at 1-800-400-7115.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no performing in the Networking Center. All audio/visual devices must have headphones – no exceptions – and live performances are prohibited. The Networking Center is not a performance area, nor a “mini showcase.” It is for conducting business. Consider having one or two CD or MP3 players with good quality headphones on your table for visitors to listen to your music. In case of difficulty with electrical connections or cords, make sure you have plenty of batteries for your players. Also consider bringing a laptop to show live performance video. Anything you show must be resident on your computer or you must supply your own Internet connection – the Networking Center does NOT have Wi-Fi. As always, you are free to give away any of your merch.

Times/Security: Load in time for the Networking Center is Friday from 1 – 2 pm.  Load out is Saturday after the Networking Center closes from 4:30 – 5:00 pm.  Networking Center business hours are 2 pm – 4:30 pm on Friday and 2:20 pm – 5:00 pm on Saturday. Due to the layout of the hotel, the Networking Center is NOT 100% secure. Easily transportable, high value items like laptops, iPods, etc. should not be left in the Networking Center overnight.

Kray Van Kirk will be coordinating the Networking Center. If you have any questions, email him at <kvk_at_krayvankirk.com> (replace _at_ with @).
