Sponsored by FAR-West, the Susanne Millsaps Memorial Coffeehouse provides showcase opportunities on a non-juried basis. Three performers are scheduled for each showcase slot, performing one song each “in the round.” The Susanne Millsaps Memorial Coffeehouse takes place on Friday and Saturday afternoons on a small stage with sound.
Booking for the SMMC is done via two random drawings. The first one is held after the close of Early Bird registration and the second is in early August. So, getting registered early will increase your chances. During online registration you should indicate that you’d like to be considered for a slot in the showcase and you will be eligible for the drawing. Performing in SMMC is limited to solos, duos and trios. (NOTE: Duos and trios are only eligible for one performance spot for the group.) All performers must be registered for the conference.
To maximize the opportunity for artists to perform on a stage, anyone chosen for an Official Showcase or the Venues’ Choice concert is not be eligible for SMMC.
If you are not selected in the first drawing, your name will be included for the second one. You will be contacted by email, if chosen, with directions to select your specific showcase time.
The 2023 Millsaps Host/Emcee is Deb Ewing.
