2020 FAR-West Best of the West (BOTW) Nominations Now Open

2020 Best of the West Nominations Now Open
for the FAR-West conference in San Jose, California
(Oct 8-11, 2020)

To our wonderful community across the following states & territories: California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Alaska and Hawaii, and in Canada: Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories.

The FAR-West Best of the West (BOTW) Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Best of the West Awards. Nominations are solicited from the FAR-West community, with honorees in both the “Performer” and “Ambassador” categories.  For example, the 2019 Honorees were: Kate Macleod (Performer) and Art Podell (Ambassador). 2018 was Wendy Waldman (Performer), McCabe’s Guitar Shop/Bob & Espie Riskin (Ambassador) and The Guacamole Fund (Lifetime Achievement in Community Service Award). Nominations should include a brief summary of biographical information, accomplishments and a website link. Please submit nominations via email by March 14, 2020 to the Best of the West Chair, Stephen Bond Garvan, steve@garvanmanagement.com.

Honorees are chosen by the FAR-West Board of Directors and will be announced later in April. The awards will be presented at the annual FAR-West conference in San Jose, California on Saturday, October 10, 2020.  The conference is growing dynamically and BOTW is an integral part of it. The Best of the West Awards were established by FAR-West in 2005 to honor individuals who have maintained an enduring presence in the folk and acoustic music scene in our Western Region, inspiring others by embodying folk values and traditions.
